Paul's story will be told in his upcoming book "An Incomplete Shadow".

An Incomplete Shadow tells of Paul’s study of the Martial Arts (three black belts in two different styles) and the various adversities he overcame during his youth.

It also details all of Paul’s climbs, culminating in his final successful attempt on Everest, as well as his fundraising work for kids cancer research.

An Incomplete Shadow is due for release mid 2007.

An incomplete shadaow..... Where is the shadow?

Tens of thousands have attempted it since Sir Edmund Hillary and his Sherpa partner Tenzing Norgay became the 1st to summit on 29th May 1953. Out of these thousands only about 2000 have managed to summit with approximately 200 losing their lives.

"Only a handful of disabled climbers have managed to climb Everest and only one has managed to climb the North Side.....Paul Hockey."

The 1st was Tom Whitaker who summited from the South side after being forced to turn around at approximately 8400 meters on the North Side on a previous attempt. Tom has only one foot. After Tom there has been a blind man and a one armed man again summiting from the South.

Finally on Sunday June 5th 2005 at 0745am Australian man Paul Hockey summited Everest from the North side.

Paul lost his right arm to cancer when he was just 3 weeks old. It was Paul's second attempt after being forced to turn around at approximately 8600 metres the year before after running out of time and oxygen.

Paul was literally dying on his descent and survived only because of the experience and generosity of his Sherpa Neema and his expedition leader Russell Brice.

Paul recommends that anyone seriously considering climbing Everest should do so with Russell Brice. Russell is the owner /operator of Himalayan Experience or Himex as it is known in mountaineering circles.
